UHMWPE Liners to Help Reduce Material Buildup
During industrial material handling, moist powders, granules, and other bulk materials may adhere to equipment surfaces, causing residue buildup, restricted flow, and additional cleaning requirements. Choosing an appropriate lining material is one way to improve material handling performance.
UHMWPE liners feature a low-friction surface and excellent wear resistance. They can be used in chutes, hoppers, storage bins, and conveyor transfer points. Under suitable design and operating conditions, they can help reduce friction between certain materials and equipment surfaces, potentially minimizing material buildup.
Compared with some conventional metal liners, UHMWPE also offers lower weight, good moisture resistance, and good impact strength. For conveyor systems requiring regular maintenance, properly selected UHMWPE liners can help reduce maintenance work associated with worn components.
Material adhesion is also influenced by moisture content, temperature, particle shape, and surface conditions. Each application should therefore be evaluated according to the material characteristics and equipment design to ensure that the liner meets the intended requirements.
